YoungNa Lee-Kim
YoungNa Lee‑Kim, MD, MEd is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Hematology‑Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), where she serves as Program Director for the Pediatric Hematology‑Oncology Fellowship and the Advanced Subspecialty Fellowships in Hematology‑Oncology. She also chairs the GME Dean’s Resident Monitoring Advisory Committee, underscoring her leadership in graduate medical education at the institutional level.
Dr. Lee‑Kim has held multiple national roles that shape pediatric subspecialty training. She has served as Chair of the Fellowship Executive Committee for the Association of Pediatric Program Directors, Chair of the Training Committee of the American Society of Pediatric Hematology‑Oncology , a member‑at‑large of the Executive Committee for the Council of Pediatric Subspecialties (CoPS), and the Pediatric Hematology‑Oncology representative to CoPS. Through these positions, she has contributed to national consensus efforts across subspecialty training programs. She has also been an American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) champion for competency‑based assessment and co‑led the ABP’s Entrustable Professional Activities to Milestones Mapping Project for Pediatric Hematology‑Oncology.
Internationally, Dr. Lee‑Kim has supported global workforce development through her educational leadership in the BCM/Texas Children’s Hospital Global HOPE program, where she helped establish the first accredited Pediatric Hematology‑Oncology fellowship program in sub‑Saharan Africa. She is also deeply engaged in faculty development at BCM and Texas Children’s Hospital, including through the Master Teachers Academy and Faculty College.
Across her career, Dr. Lee‑Kim has advanced training, assessment, and professional development across the pediatric subspecialties. Her contributions have been recognized through multiple BCM Faculty Excellence Awards and her election to the National Academy of Distinguished Educators in Pediatrics.
