APA Affinity Groups are brave spaces for members to share their lived experiences and truth.

Affinity Groups to serve as conduits for social engagement, positive connection, and enhanced wellbeing within a brave space.

The objectives of the APA Affinity Groups:

  • Create a sense of community and belonging
  • Identify strategies for empowerment and wellbeing in personal and collective spaces.

 

Who Can Join?

Affinity Group membership is open to all members of the APA in good standing with the national organization regardless of training level, academic scholarship, or personal/professional identity. All people are welcome to participate in any APA Affinity Group.

Faculty and trainees may participate. Affinity Group meetings have breakout rooms for each group.

Pilot Groups

APA’s leadership decided to pilot two groups to start. Pending evaluations and feedback, more may be launched.

LGBTQIA+

The LGBTQIA+ Affinity Group is an inclusive community bringing together LGBTQIA+ persons and allies.

The first meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 23, 2026 from 8-8:30 PM EST/7-7:30 CST, 6-6:30 MST, 5-5:30 PST

Interfaith

The Interfaith Affinity Group is an inclusive community bringing together people of diverse faiths, religious beliefs and practices, and spirituality.

The first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, 2026 from 8-8:30 PM EST/7-7:30 CST, 6-6:30 MST, 5-5:30 PST.
