The purpose of the LGBTQ Health and Well-Being SIG is to provide a forum within the APA for members to share and advance research at various stages of development, discuss innovative teaching activities and ideas, and collaborate on advocacy efforts in support of LGBTQ children, youth, parents, and LGBTQ members of the health professions including students, residents, faculty, and practitioners.
Current SIG Goals:
- Stimulate and support research regarding LGBTQ health
- Increase the number of research presentations related to LGBTQ issues at PAS
- Conduct a successful annual meeting at PAS
- Provide a forum and safe space for LGBTQ and allied members of the APA for networking and idea exchange
We understand that LGBTQ has historically stood for “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning.” We use this acronym to refer broadly to all sexual and gender diverse groups, acknowledging their uniqueness and contributions to our community.
