Meet Our Team

My educational achievements include leadership roles in pediatric hospital medicine (PHM)and in faculty development at the local and national levels. I have been fortunate to have taught and held leadership roles in PHM fellowship and in faculty development. I was the former Director of the Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) Office of Faculty Development and Co-Director of the BCM Master Teacher Fellowship Program (MTFP) and now am currently an Executive Vice Chair for the BCM Department of Pediatrics, Senior Advisor in the BCM Office of Faculty Development and Faculty Affairs and Director of Education for PHM based at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH). I have been the recipient of multiple teaching awards, both locally and nationally. I actively collaborate with educational leaders in pediatrics, PHM and across other specialties. I am considered an expert in family-centered rounding, diagnostic errors and in workshop/conference planning. I was a former section chief for PHM and work closely with TCH administration about patient flow and length of stay and served as TCH Medical Staff President for 18 months. One contribution of mine is the introduction of family-centered rounding to the PHM service at TCH. I also have a great interest in global health care and have had the opportunity to teach and/or care for patients in India, Brazil, Malawi, Taiwan and Uganda. I recently completed twelve years on the AAP SOHM Executive Committee as a national elected officer. I am now focused on leadership development and have co-founded a national American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) PHM Emerging Leaders conference and have co-founded a leadership college for BCM Department of Pediatrics. I completed my residency at Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles and am sub-boarded in PHM. I also completed my Master’s of Education at the University of Houston.
