How to Apply
2021 Miller-Sarkin Mentoring Award Application Information
Individuals may nominate themselves or a colleague for the APA Miller-Sarkin Award. To be considered or nominate a colleague for this award, an individual or nominator must:
- Be a current APA member
- Fill out the common application and submit nominee CV by January 10, 2021
- Submit a statement and four letters of support as listed below by January 10, 2021.
- Statement from nominee including
- description of mentoring philosophy
- strategies for developing a successful mentoring relationship
- an overview of their role as a mentor i.e. how individuals are mentored, type of individuals mentored and impact as a mentor
- Four (4) Letters of support (to be collected by the nominator):
- Letter of support from the nominator
- Letters of support from two individuals who have been mentored by the nominee
- Letter of support from the nominees' department chair, dean or national leader in nominees discipline
The APA Miller-Sarkin Mentoring Award recognizes the contributions of an APA member who has provided outstanding mentorship to learners or colleagues, both locally and nationally and serves as a model to others who aspire to mentor others as they mature.
