The Global Health SIG is planning a virtual gathering for September 2020. A survey was sent out last week asking SIG members to vote on one of three ideas for this first virtual SIG meeting. One idea is to have presentations of select Global Health abstracts that were accepted to PAS this past year and were unable to present due to the conference cancellation. Our members have been doing great work, and we would like an opportunity to highlight their findings. These abstracts will be published in a Global Health newsletter if not presented virtually. The next idea is a more social gathering, to catch up on what members have been working on and how COVID has disrupted Global Health work. The social meeting would also have breakout sessions so members involved in research, education, or clinical work could discuss common challenges and ways they have overcome those barriers. The final idea is to select 1-2 speakers to present on current topics in Global Health. We encourage all SIG members to complete the survey! Be on the lookout for an announcement in mid-August to both the SIG and general APA membership with the plans for our virtual meeting. Members and non-members are welcome to join our virtual session.
