Dewesh Agrawal, MD

Dewesh Agrawal is professor of pediatrics and emergency medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. Since 2003, he has worked as an emergency physician at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. From 2007-2020, he served as the Program Director for Pediatric Residency Training at Children’s National, and in that role he had the honor of training 500 pediatricians. In 2019, Dr. Agrawal took over as the Vice-Chair for Medical Education and ACGME Designated Institutional Official at Children’s National.

Dr. Agrawal has been part of different teams who have been awarded several national medical education awards, including the American Board of Pediatrics Initiative for Innovation in Pediatric Education, the Academic Pediatric Association Ray E. Helfer Award for Innovation in Medical Education, the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Award for Educational Achievement and Innovation, the Academic Pediatric Association Teaching Program Award (in both 2013 and 2018), and most recently a 2022 ACGME Dr. Barbara Ross-Lee Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award. He has co-presented dozens of professional development workshops at major national academic meetings including annual meetings of the ACGME, AAMC, APPD, and PAS. And his CV boasts over 100 scholarly publications.

Dr. Agrawal’s passion is education, and he is the recipient of numerous teaching awards including the prestigious 2005 Golden Apple Award from the Children’s National house staff and the 2019 Distinguished Teacher Award from the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. In 2023 he was inducted into the National Academy of Distinguished Educators in Pediatrics. In this post-pandemic world, he has rejuvenated his love of traveling while continuing to run and spend time with his wife and their two children.
