Hello from Region VI! With our Region VI Meeting that had been planned for March postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we unfortunately missed the opportunity to see everyone. We plan to connect with our members during our first virtual Region VI Happy Hour on Monday, August 17th (see our Region 6 APA Community Page to register!). We will use this time to check-in with how our members are doing during the Pandemic, discuss any possibilities for collaboration for academic efforts during the time, and have open discussion time as well.
There is an opening for a Region VI co-chair position! We are currently taking nominations and so please feel free to nominate yourself or somebody else. We are asking for a brief (a few paragraphs!) personal statement and copy of your CV to be considered. Please e-mail Sarah Vepraskas (svepraskas@mcw.edu) if interested. A co-chair position is a great way to become more involved in the APA and network with other Region VI members!
Lastly, we will have our first virtual Region VI meeting this fall, with KU School of Medicine our host. The meeting is being planned for the afternoons of Thursday 10/8 and Friday,10/9/20. We are finalizing our virtual meeting agenda and should post details soon. Of note, there will be no charge for this meeting since it was postponed from March. (You should have received an e-mail from Laura Turner about how to receive a refund if you previously registered for the meeting). All members are welcome to attend, even if you had not attended the meeting last March. Registration details and more information will be posted soon on our Region VI APA Community Page.
