The mission of the Interdisciplinary Pediatric Researchers SIG is to connect individuals, who are not necessarily medically trained and are conducting research in pediatric medicine, to provide a forum for sharing ideas and methodologies, and to support their career development within pediatric academic medicine.
Current SIG Goals
- Connect and provide networking opportunities for pediatric researchers who are not necessarily medically trained or engaged in medical practice but are conducting research in pediatric medicine
- Support career development through the sharing of information about different pediatric research department infrastructures and promotion processes
- Introduce emerging and existing research methods and related resources commonly used within pediatric research
Annual Summary
In the fall of 2018, we hosted a joint webinar with the Membership Engagement Committee entitled "Collaborating Across Disciplines". This webinar included three MD/PhD dyads who illustrated the mutual benefits of a close working relationship for MDs and PhDs within the pediatric academic field. In the spring of 2019, we hosted a workshop on conjoint analysis and career development at the Pediatric Academic Societies annual conference.
