There is significant variability across the country in how to engage with and support families on breastfeeding and infant care in the setting of substance use history. This webinar comprised of providers, researchers, and a patient advocate with lived experience aims to illuminate the current protocols for infant feeding in the setting of substance use and substance use disorder, disparities in breastfeeding support and infant monitoring in the newborn nursery, reducing bias and stigma in provider-patient communication and contingency planning for infant breastfeeding post-hospital discharge, and best practices in birthing parent/newborn substances screening and patient navigation for medication-assisted treatment and lactation support.
Please grab your favorite warm winter beverage and join us for an informative session with colleagues on the forefront of infant breastfeeding and family support in the setting of substance use and substance use disorder.
