Wendy Hobson-Rohrer, MD, MSPH Named 2024 PAS Program Chair-elect

By APA Staff

On behalf on APA former Secretary, Judith Shaw, EdD, MPH, RN

On behalf of the PAS Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce the selection of PAS Program Chair-elect, Winifred (Wendy) Louise Hobson-Rohrer, MD, MSPH, FAAP, Associate Vice President for Health Sciences Education and Executive Clinical Director, South Main Clinic at University of Utah Health. Dr. Hobson-Rohrer will serve as PAS Program Chair-elect from July 2024 through June 2026 for PAS 2025 and 2026 Meetings and will assume the role of Program Chair from July 2026 through June 2028 for the PAS 2027 (Minneapolis) and PAS 2028 (Salt Lake City) Meetings.

Dr. Hobson-Rohrer has shown a tremendous commitment to the PAS Meeting and has participated in several roles – attendee, presenting author, session moderator, workshop leader and [APA] PAS Workshop Chair – since 2000. In addition, Dr. Hobson-Rohrer has also served on the PAS Program Committee, the Program Committee Leadership Team, and a PAS Board-appointed task force charged with reviewing the PAS program planning structures and processes for improvement opportunities. Dr. Hobson-Rohrer has also been an active participant in program planning for numerous other professional conferences and is a sought-after speaker for academic pediatric and medical education programs.

A recognized pediatric clinician and leader in medical education and faculty development, Dr. Hobson-Rohrer’s work is built upon a foundation of research and innovation. Honored for advancing new approaches in medical education and faculty development, Dr. Hobson-Rohrer is an active member of multiple pediatric societies including the AAP, APA, APS, SPR, and the Association of American Medical Colleges. Through her engagement with hundreds of researchers, she has gained a deep understanding of the challenges associated with medical education and pediatric research and how these may be surmounted through innovation and boundary-crossing scientific collaborations that bring pediatric academicians, researchers, and clinicians together. A ready coalition builder and mentor, Dr. Hobson-Rohrer is skilled at aligning processes and structures to foster an environment that enables diverse perspectives across the scholarly and research spectrum to be welcomed and respectfully heard.

With a deep understanding of the challenges and strategic opportunities facing the PAS community, Dr. Hobson-Rohrer is uniquely positioned to help guide the future of the PAS Meeting program as we continue to innovate, evolve, and advance the PAS mission: connecting the global pediatric community to advance scientific discovery and promote innovation in child and adolescent health.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Hobson-Rohrer, 2024 Program Chair-elect.

Sincerely,

Judith Shaw, EdD, MPH, RN
