The Advancing Pediatric Educator eXcellence Teaching Program is recruiting for the next pediatric hospitalist cohort starting on November 15.
Are you a pediatric hospitalist who might benefit from expanding your teaching skills and competence in evidence-based educational strategies? Or who is interested in taking your career to the next level and collaborating with like-minded educators? Possibly inspiring your residents and students with more meaningful learning opportunities?
The Advancing Pediatric Educator eXcellence (APEX) Teaching Program, which is co-sponsored by the AAP Section on Hospital Medicine and the Academic Pediatric Association, is a unique longitudinal national program, anchored by sequential Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) conferences. The Teaching Program offers learning opportunities that are highly interactive and foster an ongoing exchange of ideas and best practices — and also opportunities to obtain CME.
Participants learn educational theory and specific skills they will apply at their home institution with direct observation of teaching by a local mentor. Under the guidance of expert instructors, participants will also build a cohort of educators from institutions across the country and together develop educational workshops for national presentation.
Ideal participants for the PHM Conference track are pediatric hospitalists who are seeking to advance their clinical teaching skills through a process of reflection, exposure to new ideas, discussion, and practice. Though well suited to physicians early in their careers, many senior hospitalists find the program equally advantageous as they evolve their teaching skills for the next generation of learners.
