RAPID’s research awards target applicants who identify as underrepresented in medicine (UIM), or disabled. Selected proposals will receive up to $15,000 in funding for a one-year project.

Interested applicants must select one of the following funding paths for their application:

  1. National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) where proposals must address NIDDK Research Areas.
  2. Pediatric Infectious Diseases (PIDS) where proposals must address the treatment, control, and eradication of infectious diseases affecting children.

In addition to the award, RAPID Scholars:

  • Are paired with a national mentor who is an accomplished senior investigator and seasoned mentor
  • Receive in-person mentoring and networking at a breakfast during the annual Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) Meeting
  • Attend RAPID’s Annual Mentoring and Career Development Conference
  • Participate in monthly telephone conference calls to provide peer support, peer mentoring, networking, a venue for presenting research progress, and opportunities for potential research collaborations
