The Department of Pediatrics Division of General Pediatrics at the University of Virginia (UVA) Children’s Hospital, seeks candidates for a tenure-ineligible faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, to join their growing team at UVA Birdsong Pediatrics. UVA Birdsong Pediatrics is the primary teaching clinic for the UVA Pediatrics Residency Program, including the residency Continuity Clinic.

The Division of General Pediatrics is currently comprised of38 full and part-time pediatricians. The Division has outstanding collaborative working relationships with other pediatric subspecialists, our surgical colleagues, and our colleagues in adult medicine.

This position may be eligible to convert to tenure-track at an appropriate time in the future, consistent with SOM Promotion and Tenure guidelines and candidate qualifications. Rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

The position is ideal for a highly motivated candidate with a strong interest in advancing his/her career through excellence in clinical practice, teaching, quality improvement, and advocacy.

 

Qualifications

 

The position requires excellent clinical and teaching skills and experience necessary to precept residents and medical students.  We have a large population of medically and socially complex patients, and as such strive to teach not only competency in the medical care of children but also systems-based practices that link evidence-based guidelines with holistic care and social determinants of health.  Many of our faculty support residents in advocacy and quality improvement projects within the Birdsong Clinic.

Required Qualifications: Applicants must be board certified/eligible in pediatrics and have an M.D. degree or equivalent.

Priority candidate review will begin on April 6, 2023, but the position will remain open until filled.

Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.

The successful candidate will pass a criminal background check and pre-employment health and drug screenings.
