The nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare seeks an Analyst to conduct state legislative and policy analysis and research on assigned portfolio issues in support of American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) chapter advocacy goals; facilitate the dissemination of information to AAP chapters, committees, sections, councils, task forces, and membership, and provide strategic consultation to these groups for use in their state advocacy activities; develop, maintain, and disseminate advocacy resources and products; and develop and strengthen relationships with coalitions and external stakeholders related to issues in assigned portfolio.
Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, public health, or related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience required. Masters preferred.
- At least three years’ experience in state government/legislative advocacy or relevant association work, including some experience tracking state legislation and researching and analyzing state advocacy and public policy issues. Prior experience with LGBTQI+ policy and advocacy strongly preferred.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking, negotiation, prioritization, and verbal/written communication skills essential.
- Must be a strategic thinker with superior writing skills and diligent attention-to-detail to coordinate a wide array of time-sensitive work, be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work both independently and as part of a team, exercise good judgment, display initiative, collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents, and promote and maintain a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Absolute factual reporting is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in related legislative and regulatory processes.
- Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; experience with virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx, Teams) preferred.
- Some travel and evening/weekend work is required.
