The University of Washington (UW) Department of Pediatrics, in
collaboration with the Seattle Children’s Hospital Center for Diversity and Health Equity (CDHE), invites applications for the position of CDHE Medical Director. The CDHE Medical Director provides leadership, including planning, directing and supervising the clinically focused activities of the CDHE in partnership with interdisciplinary collaborators across Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics. Candidates may practice in any clinical division or specialty.
Established in 2006, the CDHE is dedicated to the recognition and elimination of health inequities for children, families and communities. In partnership with the Manager of CDHE, the Senior Director of Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and the Research Director of CDHE, the CDHE Medical Director will provide leadership to ensure advances in health equity in the clinical setting, and to bring an equity and anti-racist framework to all clinical policy at Seattle Children’s. The CDHE Medical Director provides input and leadership for both internal and external programs and policies, including analysis and review of data regarding institutional practices that may have disparate impacts on specific patient populations. The CDHE Medical Director will collaborate and consult on the following institutional initiatives: health equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism strategic plan, clinical operations, clinical standard work and guideline implementation, quality and safety, metrics for evaluation of institutional efforts, academic affairs and faculty education, and graduate medical education.
The successful candidate will model the principles of equity, diversity,
inclusion and anti-racism through their practice and service. They will have experience engaging diverse communities, supporting career pathways for diverse faculty and staff, and leadership and/or advocacy for institutional change in equity and anti-racism.
The CDHE Medical Director is a funded administrative role. The
candidate will be hired in the Full-Time Clinical Faculty or Clinician-Scholar track at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor.
Applicants must have an MD, DO or MD/DO combined (or foreign equivalent) and US Board certification or US Board eligibility in General Pediatrics and/or a pediatric subspecialty.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
