General Pediatrics & Newborn Medicine Physicians (Faculty & Clinical Positions)
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence, diversity, and inclusion. We are seeking General Pediatricians and Newborn Medicine physicians to join our programs in both faculty (academic series) and clinical (MSP) roles.
These positions offer the opportunity to practice in a leading academic health system while contributing to clinical care, education, research, quality improvement, and advocacy.
Position Overview
Successful candidates will provide high-quality care to infants, children, and adolescents in General Pediatrics and/or Newborn Medicine, with opportunities for combined roles based on experience and interest.
Clinical settings include outpatient clinics, FQHC partner sites, and UC San Diego Health Jacobs Medical Center.
Key Responsibilities
General Pediatrics
- Provide comprehensive primary care (well-child visits, preventive care, acute care)
- Teach trainees, as needed
Newborn Medicine
- Provide inpatient newborn care and neonatal resuscitation
- Manage routine and complex newborn cases
Faculty Responsibilities
- Teach, supervise and mentor trainees
- Participate in research, quality improvement, and advocacy
Qualifications
- MD or equivalent
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatrics
- Eligible for California medical licensure
- For Newborn roles: 2+ years experience and neonatal resuscitation skills
Compensation
Salary range: $190,000 – $275,000
Eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)
