The Department of Pediatrics is seeking an Assistant, Associate Professor, or Professor Pediatrics to join our team at the University of Toledo Pediatrics. Our institution features a medical school with a fully accredited Pediatric residency program and is currently home to approximately 30 pediatric residents.
Responsibilities include providing pediatric ambulatory care to children and adolescents in addition to teaching and supervision of residents and medical students and participation in quality / performance improvement initiatives. This position also requires clinic schedule flexibility to accommodate patient needs. We are looking for candidates who are board certified in Pediatrics, possess outstanding clinical skills, have experience in medical education and demonstrated scholarship with an ongoing commitment to research (e.g. clinical research, health services / outcomes research, community based participatory research or implementation science) and/or leadership roles in the ambulatory setting. The successful candidate will receive an academic appointment at The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. The academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Attendance at monthly Grand Rounds presentations
- Presenter at Grand Rounds (1 or more times annually)
- Case Based Learning lectures to medical students
- Attendance and participation at didactic sessions
- In clinic supervision and teaching of Residents and Students
- Leading collaborative quality / performance improvement initiatives in the school and regionally
- Attendance at monthly faculty meetings
- On-going commitment to clinical research, health services/outcomes research, and community based participatory research or implementation science
Clinical Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Conduct regular thorough examinations on newborns and young children to check and record their health and normal physical development
- Examine sick children to determine their condition and ask intuitive questions to gather information about symptoms
- Reach an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and individual medical history
- Prescribe medications and give detailed instructions for administration
- Prescribe and interpret appropriate lab tests to gain more information for possible infections or abnormalities
- Prepare and administer vaccines according to the guidelines
- Examine and treat injuries and refer the little patients to physicians of other disciplines when necessary (e.g. surgeons, ophthalmologist, orthopedics, etc.)
- Advise parents on children’s diet, exercise and disease preventative measures
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio
- Membership and in good standing on the medical staff of the University of Toledo Medical Center and affiliated hospitals, with clinical privileges in the Department of Pediatrics, in accordance with the Medical Staff bylaws, rules and regulations and applicable policies.
- Eligibility as a certified provider in the Medicare, Medicaid and other federal and state health care programs; and
- Insurability in the professional liability policy of the practice plan.
- Active candidacy or diplomate status with the American Board of Pediatrics
- Successful completion of a 3-year accredited Pediatric residency with suitability for performance of Primary Care.
- Board Certified in Pediatrics – ABP
