DESCRIPTION:What Does Critical Race Theory Have to Do with Qualitative Research? Part 1 \nPlease join us for an exciting virtual Journal Club.  We are fortunate to have renowned medical education researcher Dr. Janice Hanson lead this webinar in which she discusses her in-press qualitative study\, “Racial/ethnic disparities in clerkship grading: Perspectives of students and teachers\,” Academic Medicine\, November 2022 RIME Supplement (See attachment). This will be the 1st of a 2-part series led by Dr. Hanson. Part 2 will be in January 2023 \nDr. Hanson is a Professor of Medicine\, the Director of Education Scholarship Development and the Co-Director of the Medical Education Research Unit at Washington University School of Medicine. \n\nThis interactive journal club discussion will start with a short presentation of the methods section of a recently published RIME Research Paper\, Racial/ethnic disparities in clerkship grading: Perspectives of students and teachers. This study incorporates critical race theory as a conceptual framework to guide data collection and analysis. After the presentation of the methods in this study\, we’ll discuss conceptual frameworks in qualitative research\, beginning with these questions: \nWhat is the difference between a conceptual framework and a philosophical framework? \nHow does the researcher’s view of knowledge (epistemology) affect qualitative research? \nHow can a researcher find a conceptual framework that can guide a qualitative research study? \nHow does a conceptual framework influence what the researchers learn in a qualitative study? \nWhat do conceptual and philosophical frameworks have to do with reflexivity? \nWhat questions do you have about conceptual frameworks in qualitative research?

DESCRIPTION:“We are thrilled to share that this year’s PAS conference will have a Wellness and Well-being Track. This track was listed as an option for Scholarly Session\, Workshop and SIG submitters\, and when the program guide launches in March\, attendees will be able to look at the Wellness and Well-being Track and see an overall listing of any session whose submitter indicated their session fit into Wellness. We are so appreciative that PAS is making Wellness and Well-being such a priority! \nAlong those lines\, the conference planners reached out to this SIG for input on how best to infuse wellness into the PAS conference this year.  We would love to hear input from the SIG membership!  \nPlease join the Well-Being Special Interest Group on 11/17 for an opportunity to reconnect with each other and brainstorm ways to help us all “stay well” during this year’s conference… and beyond!  “ \n(You are encouraged to attend even if you’ve never participated in this SIG before\, and even if you can’t be at the conference). \nWe hope to see you there!
