Vineeta Mittal

Objective 1:
1. Understand establishing achievable benchmarks of excellence for asthma, pneumonia, and bronchiolitis

Objective 2:
2. Evaluate local and national quality improvement efforts to improve care for inpatient management, specifically using models from asthma, pneumonia, and bronchiolitis

Objective 3:
3. Identify strategies to overcome barriers and improve on your continuous quality improvement efforts within your current clinical practice model

As hospitals adapt to healthcare reform and accountable care models are being created, continuous quality improvement and evidence based practice has gained momentum. The aim of this workshop is to discuss the key aspects of successful local and national quality improvement (QI) collaboratives for managing children hospitalized with asthma, pneumonia, and bronchiolitis, the most common diagnoses resulting in acute care hospitalizations in children. This workshop will begin with discussion on establishing benchmarks to establish achievable excellence to measure performance and set targets. Small group break-out-sessions will be organized by diagnosis (asthma, pneumonia, and bronchiolitis) and will be used to brainstorm challenges to implementing QI for metrics within each diagnosis. Large group sessions will highlight success and challenges of local and national collaboratives.
