Summary:
Overwhelmed by all of the issues and challenges in your newborn nursery? Come to this session to learn key steps and quality improvement strategies to standardize care and implement best practices in your newborn nursery. Through discussion of common newborn topics such as neonatal drug exposure, late preterm care, and breastfeeding, participants will work together to define outcome measures, identify barriers, and describe possible interventions and implementation strategies. As facilitators, we will help direct the conversations and share our own struggles and success stories with creating multidisciplinary committees, educating staff, implementing protocols, and monitoring changes in practice. Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to identify process and quality improvement strategies to help standardize care in the newborn nursery and recognize the challenges and barriers of establishing best practices in the community hospital setting.
