Pediatric Hospital Medicine 2012

Research 201
Joel Tieder, Karen Wilson
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. To understand the research process, and potential barriers to the implementation of a research or QI project
  2. To learn about the practical research experiences of pediatric hospitalists
  3. To provide early career pediatric hospitalists with the opportunity to receive feedback on their research project

This highly interactive workshop is the second of a 3-part series. It is intended for pediatric hospitalists with basic research knowledge who are in the process of planning and implementing a research project and will provide them with the opportunity to present and receive feedback on their projects. This is designed to be a work in progress session, with an emphasis on study design, IRB issues, funding, power calculation and general project management. Four projects will be chosen ahead of the meeting, and their PIs asked to present their studies to the group. The workshop leaders and other research/QI experts will facilitate a discussion about each project, and investigators will have the opportunity to ask questions.
