At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. To state the role of national organizations in the development of the specialty of pediatric hospital medicine.
  2. To give a description of the mission of the three national organizations represented.
  3. To describe the benefits of being involved in a national organization

The president's of the Academic Pediatric Association, American Academy of Pediatrics and Society of Hospital Medicine will each make a ten minute presentation. These presentations will focus on the role of Pediatric Hospital Medicine and Pediatric Hospitalists in their organizations. They will highlight the value of their organizations to Pediatric Hospitalists. Each president will be given an opportunity to ask one or two questions of attendees by using an audience response system. Questions from the pediatric hospital medicine community will be solicited prior to the meeting. Each president will have an opportunity to respond.
